
Located at the end of Globo de Oro Street in Quiapo, the
Masjid al-Dahab, popularly known as the
Golden Mosque, because of the golden color of its dome, was built in 1976 thru the initiative of then First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos to coincide with the visit of Libya’s former strongman Muammar Gaddafi, which was then cancelled. The mosque is the largest in the city and has become the center of Islam in Manila
