Paalam Tita Cory
5 August 2009 - The day the icon of democracy, President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, was laid to rest. Thousands of Filipinos troop to the streets and brave the rains to witness the longest funeral procession after Ninoy Aquino's burial 26 years ago and pay their last respects to a well loved and idolized leader. May your deeds, and the principles you stood and fought for serve as inspirations for everyone to work for a better Philippines. Thank you!

Yellow Ribbon & Prayers
Prayer for a Happy Death (2004)
by Corazon C. Aquino
Almighty God, most merciful Father
You alone know the time
You alone know the hour
You alone know the moment
When I shall breathe my last.
So remind me each day, most loving Father
To be the best that I can be
To be humble, to be kind,
To be patient, to be true,
To embrace what is good
To reject what is evil
To adore only You.
When that final moment does come
Let not my loved ones grieve for long
Let them comfort each other
And let them know how much happiness
They brought into my life.
Let them pray for me
As I will continue to pray for them,
Hoping that they will always pray for each other.
Let them know that they made possible
Whatever good I offered to our world
And let them realize that our separation
Is just for a short while
As we prepare for our reunion in eternity.
Our Father in heaven
You alone are my hope
You alone are my salvation
Thank You for Your unconditional love. Amen.

Maraming salamat po Tita Cory!
“I don't have any formula for ousting a dictator or building democracy. All I can suggest is to forget about yourself and just think of your people. It's always the people who make things happen.”
-- Corazon Aquino
“She would have wanted us to thank each and everyone of you for all your continued love and support. It was her wish for all of us to pray for one another and for our country." -- Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III

Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photowalk
Filipino participants, the Binondo & Quiapo group in Manila, to the worldwide photowalk held last July 18, 2009 poses for souvenir group shots along the plaza in front of the Binondo church just before the rains spoiled the fun. Still, the activity was a success with more than 70 photographers, mostly members of the Flickr group the Flickristasindios, from different skill levels participating. Indeed the streets from Quiapo to Binondo was an eye opener to most of the participants as they saw and captured the realities revealed along the way. while to the more acquainted ones with street shoots and the location, it was another chance to inter-act with the regular subjects of the area and capture whatever the place may present anew.

Located at the end of Globo de Oro Street in Quiapo, the Masjid al-Dahab, popularly known as the Golden Mosque, because of the golden color of its dome, was built in 1976 thru the initiative of then First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos to coincide with the visit of Libya’s former strongman Muammar Gaddafi, which was then cancelled. The mosque is the largest in the city and has become the center of Islam in Manila
